Exhibition Statement

Re-sound is a concept that relates to filling a space with sound, whether this is an external, architectural space, or the internal space within our bodies. Images have the potential to elicit sound qualities and trigger our ability to hear through our memories and imaginations. With this in mind, I have filled the gallery space with visual renditions of sounds that once occurred, sounds that exist in the minds of the viewer, and sounds that exist as traces. It is a play with the audible and unheard, the visible and unseen. Re-sound also pertains to the reflection of sound waves from a surface. The artworks in this exhibition resound with each other through repetition and variation of motifs within each series. These concepts of re-sound and echo offer a metaphorical and material connection between two senses: sonic and visual.
